The 2nd PDC International Education Conference and the 20th China Annual Conference for International Education were successfully held from October 17–19 at the China National Convention Center. At the event, JimiIoT officially released its smart campus IoT solution. Among the highlights was the debut of the intelligent IoT student ID card, custom-developed for the PDC International Education Alliance. This card has since been deployed at Beijing Hujialou Central Primary School—the founding unit of the PDC Alliance—transforming it into a model intelligent campus.
1. Endorsement by Tsinghua University Research Institute Dean Cao Chong
The JimiIoT IoT student ID card is the first cloud-based attendance product with a built-in Beidou positioning chip. It also incorporates Wi-Fi and LBS signals for precise location tracking. As the first joint project between the PDC Alliance and an enterprise, the JimiIoT student card has garnered praise not only from Mr. Cao Chong—Dean of the Tsinghua University Research Institute and Chief Scientist at the China Satellite Navigation and Positioning Association—but also from renowned experts, scholars, and educators from countries including the UK, Finland, USA, Canada, New Zealand, Australia, Germany, Spain, Nepal, and 25 provinces and cities across China.
2. Integration into Beijing Hujialou Central Primary School
In collaboration with the “Beidou Little Academician” initiative under the PDC Alliance, the JimiIoT 4G IoT student card was developed with direct input from students. Children were involved in needs analysis, feature design, and product testing, offering creative suggestions that shaped the final product.
What Students Had to Say
“We all participated in the project and many of our ideas were adopted. It’s not just a card—it solves real problems like safety, communication, and multifunctionality.”
“Can this be an all-in-one card? Today, we carry phones, watches, meal cards, and library cards. Our IoT card does all of this!”
“This Beidou smart student card includes positioning, sign-in, library access, geofencing, and calling parents. One cool feature is smart consumption. It lets parents track spending and block transactions once a limit is hit. It’s a great tool we brought to the PDC conference.”
3. How the Smart Student Card is Changing Classrooms
A. Boosting Learning Motivation
At the elementary and middle school level, students often lack intrinsic motivation. Traditional classrooms focus heavily on teacher instruction. However, education experts advocate shifting classroom control back to students to foster active engagement.
According to Shang Junjie, Deputy Dean of Peking University’s School of Education: “Learning becomes natural when it’s fun, like a game.”
JimiIoT’s smart student card introduces features like online answering, voting, and quick-response competitions that energize the classroom and foster participation.
B. Personalized Teaching Becomes Practical
Traditional classrooms may limit interaction due to structure or students’ reluctance to speak up. Now, using JimiIoT’s classroom response tools, students can answer anonymously. The system calculy!**atccuracy rates and teachers can adjust instruction based on data.
One student said: “I used to be scared to answer. Now the system helps me learn without fear.”
The JimiIoT smart card supports a variety of interactive formats—multiple-choice, true/false, short answers, voting, etc.—with automatic grading and performance reports. It enhances focus, encourages participation, and helps tailor teaching to individual needs.
