1. The semi-autonomous ADAS
What is ADAS in automotive? Well…It is an active safety function integrated control system. Its main functions include Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) , Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA), Forward Collision Warning (FCW), Blind-Spot Collision Warning (BSW), Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Lane Keeping Assist (LKA), Smart Cruise Control (SCC), Highway Driving Assist (HDA), Lane Following Assist (LFA), Parking Assist-Perpendicular Reverse (PA-PDR), Around View Monitor (AVM), Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA), High Beam Assist (HBA), Adaptive Cruise Control（ACC）, Low Beam Assist-Dynamic (LBA-D),etc. Today, we’ve highlighted three features to share with you.
A. Autonomous Emergency Braking AEB+ Forward Collision Warning FCW-Freeing the driver’s right foot
Braking is one of the most important safety systems of vehicles, but in many emergency situations, the driver is too late to react. According to the National Highway Safety Administration NHTSA, up to 94 percent of car accidents are related to human error, such as mistaking the brakes for the gas pedal, gear reverses and so on.
Autonomous Emergency Braking AEB works by judging the braking action (power and speed) of the driver and increasing the braking force in the event of an emergency, thereby shortens the braking distance. The effect of the system is even more pronounced for drivers such as the elderly or women who do not have enough ankles and leg strength. The FCW monitors the vehicle in front. When the distance between the vehicle and the preceding vehicle is less than the safe distance, the driver will be alerted in time.
